a small one, probably any washer would do as long as it wasn't too thick. Nope, never got the ylod.

horror film? It worked didn't it? Why buy a new fan or parts when you can fix something with a washer? Thats kind of like replacing a tire on your car when it has a small hole that can be repaired.

your joking right? When the fan was scraping the picture was all chopped up, freezing, ect from overheating. Fans cool the ps3 system, computers, projectors, even cars, trucks have fans to remove heat.

Sounds like a fan issue. Or thermal paste issue. The thermal paste might need to be replaced which is very easy.

I have been a technician for 35 years and not only made factory changes to equipment but come up with my own ideas... I see two major screw ups with this ps3 in regards to cooling the microprocessor . I have a sony ps3 that I fixed the Red light of hell and now in the process of making temp. readings before and after my alteration of the cooling system. I will be posting the information on the results and what to do about this problem . Sincerely. Ken Tech

@amdfanboyati all ure doing is loosing suction making it work more to cool it off. its funny how you actually opened it up t "fix" this but you could of just put better thermal compound on the processors to make it cool better

@Cheatman5 Mate i sold mine on Ebay for £120 just put ps3 in full working order but loud fan. Then got a ps3 320gb slimline for £180 so brand new ps3 for £60 haha!

@MrMushroom90 yep man im in your boat as well. i have the same god damn problem and it is pissing me off. the place i sent it back to told me that if i changed the fan to something quieter, it would give me the YLOD again. My fan is so loud that i can hear it from the 1st floor of my house.... Im so sick of this shit. i need help!!!
