A guy over at ASSEMblergames had a broken TurboExpress machine (basically a portable Turbo-Grafx16). Usually the sound and screen will go out, the cause is the electrolytic SMD capacitors will leak and die. Replacing these solves the problem. This particular unit was completely dead before.

I saw in another vid and the guy there said you can replace them all just match the MF and the volts and you should be in good shape. you should replace them all b/c they will leak green stuff and that will ruin the board. watch the turbo express repair video by lukemorse1

  • Hay Marshallgs, Please let me know if can fix mine for me.

  • hey, do you have a list of all of the capacitors in the turbo express?, I have already replaced 1 capacitor in my unit but the sound is still kinda week compared to the unit that you fixed

  • It was a beast, yes..but it was also a color television too as long as you had the adapter.

When you compare it to the Sony Watchman's of the day, the size is about the same..the Turbo Express was thicker but it was a game system as well.

I think the Turbo Express still holds the record for most expensive handheld system.

  • what should i do?

  • I made the soldering fix. It boot up for a split second and thenmy turboexpress went dead..

  • Neat.

  • Marshallah, you rule!
