Malaysian opposition leader, and global interfaith spokesperson, Anwar Ibrahim addressed an eager crowd at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre on Saturday 11th July. Incorporating classical literary quotes from the likes of Shakespeare and TS Elliot, he eloquently covered a diversity of issues in his keynote address, from religious identity to global leadership.




Islamic law is in fact very complimentary to the aims of todays secular societies. If we look back to the roots of both Christian and Muslim civilisations, we find democracy and freedom at their core.

Christianity and Islam share so much common history, it is time we start focussing on that rather than our differences, he said.

Mr Ibrahims keynote address was given as part of the Perth Interfaith Conference, a community event aimed to build bridges between Christians and Muslims in Australia.
