St Buryan Church is the oldest church in Cornwall to be confirmed by documentary and physical evidence. The scan is of the 11th Century Norman Archway that was part of the original phases of the church. If memory serves me correct the church had a touch up in the 14th Century prior to its Victorian make over.
The scan is a prelude to a complete inside and out scan of the church and the surrounding cemetery. St Buryan was also the setting for the Sam Peckipah film Straw Dogs.
The project was done using a Leica HDS 3000 purchased as part of the Tremough Development Vehicle - an EU Convergence Funded hub and spoke structured partnership between University Plymouth Colleges, University College Falmouth and University of Exeter ( Collectively known as the Combined Universities in Cornwall). The hub is based in Penryn (UCF, UOE Cornwall Campus), Cornwall. The Spokes are made up of campuses primarily in Truro, Camborne and St Austell, Cornwall, UK.
