defrag your machine

restart
make sure vegas is the only app running

turn off all widgets and other crap dont even have your internet browser open

work on your project

what i needed to say is that vegas uses the your video card to process your data

you need a machine with a decent video card and a decent processor and as much as you can afford Win XP and VIsta can only handle 4 GB of RAM and 64 bit Win Vista Ultimate can handle 8GB

if it was just sound yeah it would prolly be fine i know could get away with an off the shelf $800 pc but the proper tool for te proper job is a good motto no matter what you are doing

A lot of people do their music on their laptop. It's not a big deal. You don't need to spend $3000... jesus... it doesn't take THAT much power.

OMG i did not notice before but a laptop you gotta be kidding! me

you can build a decent video/music editing machine for about $2500-$3000 depending on what kinds of bells and whistles you want and a totally killer one for about $6000
