Twila Harig is a rescued French Bulldog who was surrendered to French Bulldog Rescue Network (FBRN) by a puppy mill owner in upstate New York when she became paralyzed. The cause of her paralysis is unknown. Her family have been working closely with Twi since her adoption and have watched as she shows clear signs of improvement and the desire to walk (eg. regaining feeling in her rear quarter and legs, twitching rear legs, maintaining assisted stands, and most recently popping her leg out of her cart's stirrups and using it to propel herself and steer her direction.) This is a video of Twi's first session in the underwater treadmill at Paws to Heal Veterinary Clinic in Vienna, VA. Present in these shots are Name?, Title and Dr. Kim Danoff (Paws to Heal) and Lisa Harig, Twila's wonderful mom and as you can clearly see in the video - her sole inspiration!

  • What a sweetie.. And so good of you to work with her! Any update on Twila's condition, i.e., have her hind legs improved? Have you seen a neurologist?

  • @SimTripps I watched all of Grunts video's late last night when you posted. I'd love to talk more with you via email - please email directly. In the meantime, I had thought that Twi's mom had sent you here to check these clips out but if not, I think it might help you to be put in touch with her also, so when you email directly I will cc' her. Twila has - as a result of her mom's dedication, and her multiple Vets great oversight, made slow but measurable

  • progress. When Loyalty first began supporting Twi (and her siblings) for their midday walks, Twi was also diapered and couldn't control any bowel or bladder activity. She now has control, although we still have to express her routinely to ensure she empties completely. She did the hydrotherapy for about a year and only recently stopped, and I need to do another video because it's clear in looking back that she's made solid progress...which never ends, frankly.

  • @LoyaltyPetCare Thanks for the response! No I don't know Twi's mom - I'm just your regular dog lover who happened upon Twi's video since my dog has also had hydrotherapy for a CCL injury/HD.. Hydrotherapy/swimming in my opinion is the best therapeutic exercise due to the water's bouyancy and weightlessness effect.. Anyways I could blab on and on haha... I just hope Twila is doing well!..

  • Wow, she did really well Terry. Thank you for sharing this.
