Once your bokashi bin is full with layers of food waste and bokashi bran, you should leave it sealed for about 2 weeks to ferment. Here's a quick tip to make sure your waste ferments properly and you get the best possible compost.

  • the white "mold" is a good sign of the yeast taking action. green, grey and black molds are the killers.

I am curious how much bokashi you use to a 5 gallon bucket?

and have you tried EM in place of the Bokashi?

  • Given that 5 gallons is about 19 litres, I would use approximately 1kg of Bokashi bran.

  • I don't see any need to buy no bokashi from any1 or any aftermarket thing. I use 2 buckets one with holes and I just fill the top bucket with food scraps and take my tea whenever I need it and my soil takes it's time to decompose. It's amazing how companies want to take people's money just for sharing knowledge. I thought we are in this world to help one another not use each other.
