Training at the Budokan in Okinawa with my Sensei, May 22, 2002
Sai-dai-ni (Sancho-Sai)
The second Sai kata we practice is called Sai-dai-ni or Sancho Sai. It means simply 'three sai.' My Sensei. Yoshiaki Gakiya, and I training the kata and working on details. Our sessions average about two hours long, so we spend ample time on each weapon and each kata. We are in one of the halls at the Budokan in Okinawa. Nice and warm!
Interesting to see - the white guy tries to get power from his shoulders and arms and stands higher, the Japanese one relies on his hips and keeps low. Nice visual demonstration!
