16 Years of Alcohol is a 2003 drama film written and directed by Richard Jobson, based on his 1987 novel.
The film is Jobson's first directorial effort, following a career as a television presenter on BSkyB and VH-1, and as the vocalist for the 1970s punk rock band The Skids.
The cover of the DVD describes it as influenced by A Clockwork Orange and Trainspotting.
The soundtrack features 1960s ska and skinhead reggae acts such as Desmond Dekker and Claudette and the Corporation, and 1970s rock bands such as Roxy Music, Velvet Underground, Iggy & The Stooges and The Skids.
At the 2003 British Independent Film Awards, the film was nominated for best independent film, and Susan Lynch won the best supporting actor/actress category.
Kevin McKidd plays the central character Frankie, a violent alcoholic who is partially based on Jobson's brother and on Jobson himself.
The movie was set and filmed in Edinburgh and Aberdour.

  • traditional skinheads weren't racist, and they were the original skins, obviously you are just a fuckin 15 year old on mommy's computer who knows jack shit.

  • @ThisYoungLibertine What I meant was the fact that they didn't use skinheads as a racist image in the film. Unlike shite movies like American History X and The Believer, the person who made this film knew the true roots of skinhead and have represented the culture I belong to respectfully. Symarip's Skinhead Moonstomp and Claudette and the Corporation's "Skinhead a Bash Them" are on the soundtrack as well. The world's most misunderstood subculture needs more films like this and This is England.

  • the first skins were better then todays skins

  • AS usual -spend a load of money on the film and get the details wrong. ITS THE DETAILS THAT MATTER. Its the details that make a classic film- ask scorsese !

No-one would've wore those boots as they WERE NOT INVENTED THEN. Poor research. Shouldve asked some original skins what they wore at the time. no-one wore tight jeans either-cos they werent around. If you wore tight jeans at the time of crombies you would've been laughed at.. C'mon JOBSON DO YER JOB(correctly)SON ! (good film otherwise btw)

  • @hugh9mac Symarip skinhead moonstomp ;) enjoy

  • @ArthurAllblack I love Trojan ska, but there is a pretty nasty reality behind "skinhead a bash dem". "Skinhead say, Paki no live no way; skinhead a bash dem." That's pretty nasty man.

  • @MOONST0MP Yeah cheers mate, found it out later that day! hahaaa, not gonna lie, don't look the best, does it!

  • @hugh9mac Its called Skinhead Moonstomp. What a fuck awful film. How did I come across this shit.

  • @tinkipinkiwinki Looked at your profile and noticed you live in Croatia. Dunno what the skinhead scene there is like, but in the US and England there are many more true skins than boneheads. So either you're a bonehead yourself or you really don't know a thing about skinheads except for the boneheads in your town and what you see in the media. If you did know something about skinheads then the genre "Skinhead Reggae" would mean something to you other than an oxymoron.

  • @ArthurAllblack i won't even bother replying u... btw i've seen that movie not so long time ago

  • @tinkipinkiwinki Obviosly, you are someone who knows fuck all about true skinhead culture and rely on the media for all your information like the good little sheeple that you are. And seriously, if you think that shit movie is the best portrayal then you haven't seen This is England.

With a world of information at the human race's fingertips, you'd think there would be smarter human now. No, quite the oppisite, especially on youtube.

  • @ArthurAllblack so you are telling me that american history x is shitty movie? it's one of the best repraesentation of what skinhead today are... like 1% of todays skinheads are the one with good intentions... the rest are retarded brainwashed morons that have no other things to do... that movie is about them and is one of the best ever
