This is simple, back in the days whenm british people started to collect animals, some of them managed to scape and then survive, feeding from farm animals.

Really nice documental

just another theory - we know of the last wolf shooting in britain but how do you gauge a last lynx kill? an elusive mostly nocturnal woodland creature that lives camouflaged either trees, undergrowth or has been known to inhabit caves, other animals burrows/holes and roams over 60 square miles might be difficult to eradicate even now there plus are other species we overlook such as ocelots, karicles, indian fishing cats which prefer to hide and stalk, if you were near one you wouldnt know it

@Smithymonsta - 1976 dangerous wild animals act..... if there is actually wild cats still left in the countryside which i believe there has it would be upto military special units to capture and dispose of them therefore any conclusive video footage would be instantly dismissed and removed - if you see my other comment i do agree hybridisation is a possible theory as a black leopard or puma is still a panther but the two species have been mated before and apparently produce deformed offspring

@ExpeditionMystery yes i agree totally, there is wild cats in the countryside, mainly pumas is the theory - released after the dangerous wild animals act of 1976 also the romans brought over leopards and they have been known to scale zoo enclosures and perimeters and escape, however alot will be inbred by now and i dont think anything as big as a lion - (pride cat - habitat; open countryside) or even tiger which are elusive would remain un-detected, also the lynx is native to britain

In the 1960's, there was a law that came in which i THINK states that you cant own a big cat without a liscense? i think so, but thousands of people around the UK released their big cats, because they couldnt get the liscence. So there is a chance that the Big cats mated, which is why we may have our big cats today.. I personally think there is one on dartmoor, because a big black creature, which had a long tail jumped in front of our car..

I'm from the maritimes Canada, and there are large cougars(mountain lion, puma, etc.)rarely seen because of their large territories(50 square miles usually), but yet they are still here. If they can survive here they can survive pretty much any where.
