nick gulas was a joke.. he lied to jerry about having a piece of the promotion.

@oldschool6804 I had forgotten the real life history behind this particular angle. There was a lot of bitterness between the Welch/Fuller clan and the Jarretts over the formation of the Memphis territory.
-
@actionsub it was legit heat but promoters will work with each other whether they personally like each other or not!
-
i think/thought his lasting contributions 2 the sport were a VERY sucky wrestler son &/or "...Them Marijuana Pills..." (see HTM's "Youshoot" 4 an explaination...1 of many 2 that,i believe)...

@SteveGaines Agreed that pushing George was Nick's downfall. Jerry Lawler talked about it in one of his shoot interviews. Memphis was big enough then that they could regularly run two shows at the same time - Nick Gulas handled one and Jerry Jarrett handled the other, and Jarrett's shows always drew better. Nick tried to force Jarrett into promoting George on his shows and he said no. Eventually, Jarrett decided to break from Gulas and talked Lawler into going with him.

@quikfax About 85 or 86...

What year was this? Fuller only looks middle aged... ;)

I wonder if they will bring this up in the current TNA storyline and if they will bring in the Fullers. I know its a stretch, but it would be interesting.

@GShea Guys like Vince Sr., Giant Baba, Don Owens, Paul Bosch, ect were always considered good if not great promoters !

@SteveGaines George Gulas made Greg Gagne look like Ric Flair.

Wrong. Nick was a damn good promoter in his day.

Ask any wrestler other than family that worked for the guy. He was a jerk towards the boys. Pulled a gun on Buddy Colt. Bec ause Buddy questioned his payoff. Promising guys say 400 a week then only giving them 125. And he was selling out or near selling out every night. That George is not a damn good promoter. That sir is a first class asshole...... But we all have our opinions. But his kid couldn't rassle his way out of Nashville.....

I said he was a GOOD promoter, didn't say he was an ETHICAL promoter - but aside from Sam Muchnick virtually NOONE was. Nick gave more guys their start than anyone else in the business.
George was a bastard. Period.
