  • Yeah, those are the valley seals, did you buy new ones? Where at? I'm gonna have to take it apart again and add silicone to that area. So a small amount of silicone would be ok in the gasket side that mates to the block? After all that is said and done, how long is the wait for the silicone to dry n the car is ready to be started?

  • @ElChuch12 No, I didn't buy those in my case. They looked good so I just reused them. If you needed new one because of wear just look up Subaru dealership or a local performance shop for Subaru's.

  • I just replaced my valve cover gaskets and ended up with a worse leak on the passenger side. It's on the firewall side, lower part of the valve cover. One thing I noticed was that my gasket kit didn't come with valley seals, which it's where I think the leak is coming from.

  • @ElChuch12 the valley seals as in the black half moon plastic parts? yea i did not put much silicone on those you just have to make sure they are flush with the block.

  • @ElChuch12 I forgot to say,be careful on you put the silicone and gaskets back on to the engine in timely manner. I would not advise waiting for the silicone to dry as it defeats the purpose of it molding into the cracks that might leak. When you put stuff back together try to use as little silicone as possible because if you use to much it can create pockets and oil will get into theses and might cause a leak. I hope this helped.
