Thanks Truebrit I think your explanation is probably right.
My concern is that when people see a highly visible police presence at a parade like this it gives the wishy washey liberals an excuse to whinge about people celebrating a love of their country and culture - ie. there may be something to fear. Nonsense of course.

alright anglotim,they are there so they say,to back up the stewards and make sure that there is'nt any trouble.plus on that day there was talk of it being cancelled next year which to me would not stop it procceding with or without the councils involvement.if they want to cancel let them go ahead,but we will still be there next year.
