Part 1. Dad's Army film released in 1971 based on hit BBC comedy show Dad's Army. The film shows the formation of the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard and how Captain Mainwaring moulded his men into an 'efficient fighting unit'. Or so he hoped.

  • Thanks for posting. Love the program.

  • 10 pounds is an awful lot of money... and to think now a general wage is between £700 and £1000

no wonder Gary Sparrow enjoyed wondering between the two eras!!!

  • @GlitchMaster70 ...you have to watch this comedy show for History homework? your fuckin teacher needs sacking thats appauling!

  • @GlitchMaster70

    I envy you!

  • 4:05 to skip title sequence thing

  • I like the bit was when Captain Mainwaring thought that the man was a nun. And he said 'Are you mad?! Do I look like a nun?" That bit was really funny. LOL. Laugh out loud mate! XD

  • @Milesdondon haha, i like Frazer

  • I'd say this was the only successful transition of a TV comedy series to the big screen. There was quite a proliferation of them in the 1970s. Private Eye made fun of this trend with a spoof movie poster with this caption:- "Yet another TV classic comes to your local cinema. Robert Dougall in The News".

  • I was like wtf whn the british men were staring rather than shooting :)
