the best car

@andycarr75 Also my friend had a Rover 200, and the glove box cover came away in his hand, and the Rover "K" series engines are very good but they suffer from blown head gaskets due to them developing water leaks later in life and the coolant capacity is only small and a small leak causes gasket failure. The only Rover worth buying since the Rover P5B is the Rover 75 with the "BMW" Diesel engine which suits the car so well.
These engines will do 300K plus if looked after.

@andycarr75 The Rover SD1 was badly constructed, and the body panels did not fit well at all (Known fact) which is a shame as it was a nice looking car.The engines in the Rover 600 and 800 were Honda engines which were good but as they were of a sporty design, they were very loud and not in keeping with a supposed luxury car.
The 800 had numerous faults that were resolved but not before the 800's image was too badly tarnished. Only the 75 is a true luxury motor, but it came too late for Rover.

Can't agree with that at all. The 1989 R8 range (see 200, 400) were high quality cars - as were the 600. Read any contemporary reports and they all sing the praises of the high build quality. Infact - I'd go as far to say that both cars were possibly the highest quality in their sectors in the early to mid 90s.

@techdavey1000 The Rover 800 was poor compared to the Rover 75, infact apart from Bently and Rolls Royce the Rover 75 is the finest ever British car, all the pundits say so. Sadly it came too late to save Rover from the bad reputation that it had from the likes of the Rover SD1, and the Rover 200, 400, 600, 800, 25, 45. indeed you have to go back to the Rover P5 and P6 for any hint of quality at all.

@Memphis35 Well actually you are wrong, the Rover 75 does share a few parts with BMW, for example the BMW 2.0CDTi Diesel engine, but that is where it stops. In a nutshell the Rover 75 was 95% British in design and manufacture.
