Saturday, October 18, 2008, members of the Jacksonville RollerGirls participated in the 2008 Komen North Florida Race for the Cure to raise money to help fund local breast health programs in the North Florida area and contribute to National Research programs!

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The Komen North Florida Race for the Cure® raises money to support its promise to end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality of care for all and energizing science to find the cures!

The Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the largest series of 5K run/ walks in the world. Since its origination in Dallas in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure® Series has grown from one local race with 800 participants to an international series of 115 races with more than 1.3 million participants.
