Disagree about translations on screen over text. Sometimes, if something is VITAL to the scene through text and needs to be translated for one to understand, it has to be done or the scene will not make sense. I find it odd you have a problem with this, as it flows into your complaints about invisible subbing. That is, it's integrated in a natural, unobtrusive way that distracts as little as possible.

gotta disagree with the karaoke openings. I love to sing along with goofy ass text.. don't you fucking DARE take that away from me =___=. and as for text being transleated on screen. you couldn't be more wrong. NOT translating that just makes me feel left out or I am missing something.

the second opening to deathnote would be unsingable even if the subtitles didn't disappear

@KingRangerLive Tragedy, ain't it?

I actually met one person who thought that multicolored, stylized, animated text is great for watching a specific anime like it's sacred, despite the fact that text is....well, text. How it looks is meaningless and indifferent so long as you can read it.

I would have loved lyrics on the Enya song and the thing you did with Gandalf's "You Shall Not Pass" was pretty damn cool if you ask me :)

@DrunkSamurai You can always tell who the weaboo fansubbers are.

I don't mind honorifics, it depends on the context. I don't mind them putting their name/website if it's small and barely noticable but I completely agree flashy fonts and effects are just stupid.

Dominique Unpronounceable-Name brings up a good point.

"Sauron is the enemy"
I lol'd.

About integrating translations into text on screen.
I think the behaviour may stem over from fan manga-translations where the practice is more common, for things like onomatopoeia or signs.
