My VitaMix 'How To Make Oat Milk & Breakfast Smoothie' is in response to emails I received from Jan and Larry.

Oat milk? Yes, and it's made just like almond or any nut milk and makes a great base for a strawberry banana smoothie.

Thanks to Jan from Scotland I have a fiber rich, fat and lactose free milk to add to my repertoire, and also an inexpensive option to nuts.

Make this and post your comments and questions!

1 cup oat milk
1 frozen bananas
10 frozen strawberries

  • I grew up on oats milk ... my grand mother used to put lime juice on it and made a very refreshing and delicious drink ....

Let me know what you think, it's more elastic than a nut milk, but very mild.

  • Ahem, It cost alot to use a blender.

  • @blenditandMendit I have only tried it once before using a recipe I found on someone's blog, but it was kind of slimy in texture and I didn't really like it much. However, I found a recipe in the recipe book that came with my Vitamix and am curious to know if it is better. It calls for 2 cups water, 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, and 1/2-1 tbsp brown sugar or sweetener of choice. It says to add all ingredients to vitamix, blend on high for 2-3 min. Store in fridge and shake well before use.

I have never made rice milk - do you have a recipe / method?

  • HAHA That chipmunk voice part just made my night!!
