@reading70 germans and bolsheviks tried to have Lithuania under their control... but FAIL!! though Lithuania is so tiny comparing to Germany and Russia. and dont forget the crusaders, who were atacking Samogitia for more than 200 yrs, who actually destroyed and assimilated the Prussians (also baltic tribe); btw nazi were considering lithuanians as untermensh, and Lithuania supposed to be for germans, as 1/3 of native population was to be destroyed, 1/3 - prison camps, the rest

@Nameofoglon Well, if we want to be honest the city had a large majority of german speakers. I hate everything related to Nazism, but Memel was closer to Germany than to Lithuania. I guess you should be more angry with Russia that in 1946 wanted to give Vilnius to Belarus in order to have a bland and unstrong Lithuania. You should focalize true enemies dear lithuanian friend.
