Dale Ted Watkins salon basic tutorial is a men's basic/uniform layer. Dale starts with a profile section through the centre of the head from the front hairline to the crown; this makes up the connecting guideline for the top sections. He then works with the top-side area from front to back. He takes a vertical section in the front, elevates the hair to ninety degrees and cuts a square line, to make a guide for the lower side area. He then takes a vertical section in the front hairline, using the top section as a guide and combing the hair straight out from the head at ninety degrees, continuing his flat shape.

In the centre-back area Dale uses the same process as the sides before gently refining his corner placement on both sides of the parietal ridge using vertical sections. Finally, the fringe is tailored to achieve a versatile, masculine look. The result is a squeaky clean, preppy, crisp button-down timeless classic, conjuring vivid echoes of the Ivy League movement which inspired generations of designers and iconic fashion hair looks such as the crew cut, mod cuts and the flat top.

  • This kid looked better before this butcher got a hold of him

  • Could you re-do this and show diagram of the side back & front sections, as well as explaining what you are doing as you are cutting the man's hair? I've never cut a man's hair professionally so It's not easy for a beginner for me to follow your video. Thanks.
