A typical container train led by a pair of C44-9W engines, runs under the old wooden bridge east of Milledgeville, Illinois.
Another goal for the day was to get a video of this wooden bridge. Not from it, since I've done that many a time, but of the bridge itself. I was inspired by this photo http://flic.kr/p/anzo2z from Jason Leverton. It shows the removal of the same type bridge about a mile to the east of the one in the video. I'm not sure what the fate for this bridge might be. But I wanted to document it in case the bridge came down, too.
I spent about an hour making multiple trips carrying gear down the embankment. Slip-sliding on the dew-slicked ground. Then ripping up and stomping on dead weeds and brush to clear a decent field of view.
UP NEXT: On Top
According to the information I can find, this might be Z-PTLCHC that runs from Portland Oregon to Chicago

@IAISrailfanner The time of day is about right for when that train typically runs by this area. Thanks.

Also, looking at the Elkhorn Rd bridge, the fate looks like they're gonna dig down to the railbed and make an at-grade crossing. There just isn't enough traffic in Carroll Co to justify replacing it with a bridge. Wouldn't suprise me in the least if that happened to the other bridges (west of M-ville, this one) The Iris St Bridge will probably sit there until time knocks it down. and the one at Big Cut may suffer that too, depending on who really uses that road over Airport/Wacker.

@Hiei2k7 I guess the wooden bridges have done what had to. It may be time.

hey bill, is there a website or something that explains the difference between locomotives? Dash 8-9, SD40-50-60-70-80-90, ES40-44, c44-9W-8W? I'd really love to be able to tell the difference. lol -.-

@bloodypandahachiroku Don't know of one. Wikipedia has a decent amount of information if I recall.
