@cartoonkingforeever Its true, apparently they were sneaky bleaches...

@Cainus44 your forgetting archaeology, it was determined that by the time of the cimbrian war the Germanic tribes where already as far east as Poland and archaeological evidence showed that the la tene culture is identical to the Gallic culture and remember the la tene culture lived in what is now Switzerland and Gaul was France Belgium and Switzerland combined, and the Hallstatt culture was also very close in resemblance to the la tene

@cartoonkingforeever And no, the Celtiberians of Hispania DID NOT come from the Gauls. I cannot stress that enough. That theory died out completely when genetics became accepted into archaeology. Everyone on the Iberian peninsula came from North Africa. Once you go west of France, there's a huge shift in genetic origins.
-
@cartoonkingforeever Actually the theory about the La Tene culture's influence is still up for debate, as is who they actually were and where they came from. The Celts of the British Isles are of a separate bloodline, and I probably should have clarified that. My bad. And no, the Germanic tribes were, as I said, still limited mainly to Northern Germany. Expansion was incredibly difficult for them until the Roman campaigns left a hole for them to exploit.

@Cainus44 the Germanic tribes had already went into Gaul and the baltics long before the Germanicus campaign and from what i have read the Hallstatt culture gave birth to the la tene culture which where the Celts who migrated into Gaul, so it is quite possible that the Celts of the British isles and the Celts of Gaul, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland are two separate bloodlines in the Celtic gene but i have read that the celtaberians of hispania migrated there from Gaul

@cartoonkingforeever What's more, all of these cultures were preceded by the Beaker Culture, one of the earliest known ancestors of the Celtic groups. The oldest artifacts of that culture were found in the Iberian Peninsula, meaning North African origins. Finally, it's a very well-known fact at this point, that the Gaels and the Britons came from Celt-Iberians, who find their origins from North Africa. Even their myths say it, if genetics didn't back it up.
-
@cartoonkingforeever The Hallstatt origins you speak of only apply to certain groups, if any at all, and implies they came from the Caucasus Mountains, which would STILL mean dark hair. That aside, Germanic folks were limited to the North regions of Germany and Scandinavia. Everything else was Celtic and Baltic. In fact, they didn't even expand until after the Germanicus campaigns.
-
@Cainus44 from the sources I've read the Celts originated along the German and Austrian border which hinted that they might share a common ancestor and the Celt went to north Africa they didn't come from there
-
@cartoonkingforeever No, when I say inbred, I mean there wasn't very many of them around in prehistoric times, so bonking your sister was the norm. And no, Celts weren't inbred. Very large population moved out of North Africa to become the Celts. More than enough to keep genetic diversity. Germans, not so much.
Yes, you saw blondes occasionally, but it was a tiny amount. You have no grounds to say it's all theories and guesses. Science flips you the bird on that.
-
@Cainus44 when you say inbred it means that they didn't mix with other people, but if the Celts where inbred then there still is the chance for them to have blond hair and for all you know it was probably like a thousand years before the Gauls appeared that the Celts where purely dark haired so i say it has been too long to determine whether they had blond or not so i still say it's all theory and guesses

I never thought the Celts as barbarians. Celtic culture and history is very similar to Polish. Celts and the Poles were tormented and humiliated. However, our peoples have survived.
Greetings for the Celts brothers, from the Poland!
