Winnipeg Solidarity Action for Palestinian Rights

This event was held in response to the failure of the Harper government to respect human rights. The Government of Canada, with Stephen Harper as Prime Minister, has punished the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for admitting Palestine as a member. The Harper Government has failed to seek protections and release for Canadians taken prisoner from the Tahrir, a boat that was part of the Freedom Waves flotilla, intercepted by Israel this week en route to Gaza with medical supplies. Prime Minister Harper has also shown no support for the peaceful pro-democracy movements of the Arab Spring & Fall, while supporting only military intervention in the Middle East.
