Simulering av magnetiska nano-kontakter som visar hur spinnvågorna breder ut sig som ringar på vattnet. Nanokontakten är 40 nanometer i diameter och spinnvågorna skapas i en 3 nanometer tunn film av en nickel-järn-legering.
The micromagnetic simulations of nano-contact STOs were performed on a circular spin valve of 400 nm diameter composed by CoFe(20nm)/Cu(3nm)/NiFe(3nm), where the thickness is indicated in the parentheses. Here, the NiFe active magnetic layer has a saturation magnetization μoMS = 0.8 T, Gilbert damping constant α = 0.02 and exchange length λex = 5 nm. The current needed for spin torque is injected from a circular nano-contact with a diameter of 40 nm, located at the center of the spin valve. Applying a field of 0.9 T and a current of 10mA (flowing from the CoFe to the NiFe), steady magnetization precession of about 22 GHz and the propagation of spin waves are clearly visible. On the same spin valve, two nano-contacts can be also defined. With a center-to-center spacing of 120 nm, coherent synchronization is achieved.
