The most talented kids in America

This is a documentary that I shot about a group of the most talented high school kids in the 9 midwestern states that were brought together for a week of training, mentorship and creaitve expression by the NFAA for an "Arts Week" at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. It was an inspiration to be among so many beautiful, talented, and dedicated young artists, performers, writers, filmmakers, etc. These kids were all focused and accomplished in their respective artforms. i was dissapointed about the lack of footage showing them perfroming, anf their art etc. mainly it was just people talking, not dancing or whatever their talents is. however understand it was probabyl inspirational to be at the scene with them.

Yes unfortunately this was supposed to be a short 5 minute documentary about the program not a performance piece. We could have made a 1/2 hour program with what was available but that was not the assignment.

I'm sorry that you don't appreciate any of the talent that is evident to me. We shot over 25 hours of video and there is a ton of footage of really talented kids and remember they are still learning they were only 16 0r 17. Unfortunately in the video you have to cut most of the performance in order to get the message in. I apologize if you don't get a feel for what I experienced when I shot it - honestly it was inspirational to me.

Worried about what? Talent is a process not just a gift. You have to start somewhere on the journey it doesn't begin at the destination - What journey does?

The point of the program is to NURTURE the arts - to give theses kids a boost. A place to start. Does that worry you? If so why?
