American countertenor Jeffrey Gall singing Cesare's aria Se In Fiorito Ameno Prato from George Frideric Handel's 1724 opera seria Giulio Cesare In Egitto (HWV 17). Directo Peter Sellars reimagined the 1990 production of this baroque masterpiece as a modern confrontation between an American president and an Arab potentate (which works remarkably well, if you ask me). Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden was conduced by Craig Smith with Susan Larson as Cleopatra and the late Lorraine Hunt-Lieberson as Sesto.

  • Fantastic singing!!!! Horrible stage :D

  • @thebarroque The whole thing actually has a point. You should watch the Presti Omai video and then you'll realise what they were aiming at. It might look a bit crummy and mismatched, but the whole production has a very powerful message.
