Here's a video I made for my sister on how to pick up the heel flap stitches to create a nice edge that is solid and attractive.

Note: to use this method, when knitting the heel flap you need to PURL the last stitch of every row, and SLIP the first stitch of every row KNITWISE. This is what creates the nice braided edge along the sides of the flap.

  • This video has helped me immensely in figuring out the most difficult part (to me) about making socks. I like the way the braided line looks finished. Thank you for taking the time to create this video.

  • I have been knitting socks for quite a while but have never heard of this method...I plan on trying it out on my next socks. Thanks for such a great video--Stay Calm and Knit On!

  • Love this!!! This is the first explanation of this process that I actually understand!! I am such a visual learner and love how you explain all of the steps while you are actually doing it! So many times people just assume that you know what they are talking about!!! Socks prepare to be conquered!!!
