Driving in the 5th July 2011 Dust Storm of Arizona. News said it was around 50 miles wide, mile tall and moving around 55mph west/northwest. Turned day into night quick.

  • Is this a normal thing in Arizona? Never seen one before this

  • @doctender77 we get these every summer in monsoon season but never this big of one - local media guys that grew up here haven't ever seen one this big. Made international news :)

  • @rynoweb Thanks. I didn't think they were normal but the guy in the video kept calling "an Arizona dust storm" like it happens all the time.

  • @doctender77 that would be me lol... at the time I didn't know it was the largest one we'd ever had but yeah dust storms are very normal here... get a few each summer.

  • Dude, you should mount your phone on your windshield so you can video record more safely. Cool video tho! :)

  • @n33oh well ideally i'd have my gopro or something but wasn't in my car initially and didn't know that thing was comin lol. thx

  • Best vid of the dust storm posted. Could be an intro for a cheesy B flick horror movie. The alien lizards are going to get ya.

  • Well, media don't read your notice. They just put video courtesy of user rynoweb. They are too dumb to read or to understand conditions, right?

  • If your driving a turbo vehicle, what do you do to preserve the turbos?

  • @rynoweb sorry to ask, but how big are they usually?

  • I'm from Mesa and I remember all the dust storms, i definitely missed a big one haha

  • Haboos are awesome but scary because it turns dark like an evil horror scene and it sure hurts if you walk in it

  • Ryno, glad you said something about driving in worse conditions while traveling through the Mid-West. I live on the WI/IL border and recent rain storms produced ZERO visibility a couple times these past few weeks. And when it comes to winter, I've experienced 'white' out conditions! While this is bad (!!) and I would probably be one of those putting on the hazards, it really can't be compared to our winters or storms, which I'm sure you know! AWESOME video though!!

  • lol I was in that shit. I didn't even know it was going on till I walked outside my work. Didn't know wtf was going on, thought it was WW3 or something. Then one of my coworkers walked out for a smoke break in the MIDDLE of it, and was like "Oh hey, it's just a dust storm.". I'm from Florida, so all this desert shit is weird to me. I'm use to Hurricanes. Not this dust shit.

  • I hear rihanna in the backround
