The best spinto soprano ever. Her warmth and beauty and power can't be matched. The passion all important is there in abundance as well!!
-
@iriisblue I can see why she said that. I love her powerful voice! Afterall you want to be able to hear it if you're sat at the back! And the quality of her voice was great, too.

SÓLO PILAR LORENGAR ESTÁ A SU NIVEL EN ESTA ÓPERA !!!! LAS DO MEJORES INTÉRPRETES DE ESTA MARAVILLOSA ÓPERA DE PUCCINI, SIEMPRE INCLUIDA EN EL TRIPTICO : IL TABARRO- GIANNI SCHICCHI- SUOR ANGELICA

yep - a truly wonderful recording

Get hold of the 1962 recording of Il Trittico (still available) with Tebaldi, Simionato,Merrill, Del Monaco, conductor Gardelli - the singing is of an overall high standard which you simply won't hear today. Tebaldi was an exceptional singer, perhaps not the best at acting, but what a voice!!
-
There are singers and then there are SPECIAL SINGERS and that is what
Tebaldi was. She made me cry at the Met I felt chills up and down my spine
at times. Her voice was unique and she had a tremendous repore with the
audience. Although she is gone from us her voice lives on through recordings
and videos on youtube postings for which I am very grateful.

Tebaldi left it all out on the stage with this marvelous performance. This is to be treasured.
When Joan Sutherland said that Renata Tebaldi had the most beautiful voice she'd ever heard in a theatre, I think it's fair to say that this performance is one reason why.
