  • He is running 2 ESX hosts. The other one is the Virtual Center Server and the fourth one I don't know.

    You need to assign 2 GB of RAM to each ESX Host, the Virtual Center VM runs better with 2 GB of RAM as well, so yes he must have at least 8 GB of RAM on his Machine to be able to run all those VMs on one machine.

    I am running my vSphere4 Test lab spread on 2 laptops with 4 GB of RAM each. One for two, or 3 ESX-hosts and the other one for PDC, Virtual Center and other management tools. Works.
