Awsome video man,
It does not use batteries, however we now have a "docking station" which this powerball will sit on and actually starts the gyro for you. This device uses 2 double A (AA) batteries. This is the best way to start your gyro without those stupid strings getting tangled!

@wipeout97 or you could buy it from rei and of anything ever goes wrong in your lifetime (not the products lifetime) they will replace/refund or exchange it how ever you see fit :)

Don't knock it till youve tried it. I thought it was bullshit until I gave it a shot. bought the platinum one and it does work, son.

@TheRaging24 I got the one with the tach, but it stopped working inside of two weeks! But otherwise these gyro's do kick ass! My arms are much more strong and ripped now. I'm not a body builder or anything like that, but I like how this thing develops my arm strength!

If you get one with a speed counter (which I don't have) then the counter will have a battery.
The gyro itself generates its own power when it gets up to a stable speed (where it's much easier to keep going).
The lights are actually a good way to keep track of your speed when starting.
