Mayor's Charity Initiative
The new Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Cllr Asghar Majeed, has come up with a brilliant new initiative aimed supporting local charities in and around the borough.
The idea is to bring together and connect charities with local restaurants, hotels and other public facing outlets to generate regular income for charities and local organisations who are struggling to find funding in 2011.
Charities and outlets that would like to take part need to register with the Mayor's secretary by emailing Alison.Singleton@rbwm.gov.uk
Making it happen at I Love Windsor
Jon Davey, editor of I Love Windsor, brought together The Mayor, The MacDonald Windsor Hotel and Windsor Parish Church to help get his party started. You can see what Mr Mayor, Lady Mayoress, Liz Dax, David Shaw & Fred have to say about the Mayor's Charity Initiative in the video above... enjoy.
More on the Mayor's Charity Initiative
Businesses that get involved will be recognised by the Mayor's office at the end of the year with a presentation of a certificate acknowledging their involvement. Those that go that extra mile will be appropriately rewarded.
Local students will be invited by the Mayor to offer ideas for the prize giving.
Charities and local community groups will benefit hugely from the additional exposure of this programme, through free PR that will be created by the variety of stories the scheme will generate. See how you can get involved below...
What is I Love Windsor's involvement?
I Love Windsor.co.uk is assisting the Mayor by increasing awareness through the borough and will be reporting the latest news from the charities and businesses involved in this great initiative. I Love Windsor.co.uk tweet, blog & vlog producing a daily email to keep those interested in what's going on in and around the town tuned in.
The email takes the format of a few paragraphs of text with links to relevant articles on the Internet. Some of these links will go to community news and events, other links will take you to the web pages of local businesses and there will also be the inclusion of local vouchers that can be redeemed with Windsor businesses.

Launch of the Mayor's Charity initiative is at The Guildhall 24th June 6pm -- 8pm, contact Alison via email above for an invitation.
Following the launch the Mayor is planning regular gatherings of those involved, or thinking of joining the Mayor's Charity initiative. The venues will be announced as the individual events are organised with the 2nd event planned for July at The MacDonald Windsor Hotel.
The letters about the initiative were only sent out last week to restaurants and already a dozen have shown and interest with the MacDonald Hotel already choosing and agreeing to support the Parish Church who are looking for £50,000 to correct the Tower and a further £400,000 to bring the whole building back to its former glory.
Enjoy our news and sign up for more.
Thank you.
