just because the word "corporation" is not in the prop doesn't mean that investors with large bank rolls won't try to corner the market and eliminate Mom and Pop producers... a vote for 19 is basically a vote for Wal-mart style business practices in the MJ industry and a slap in the face of all the people who have provided for you up to this point...

@metaZen Don't hitch your personal anti-corporate agenda to cannabis legalization. A corporation provides the internet service that let you post that message, so it's a little two faced to argue against their existence online. Many cannabis dispensaries are non-profit corporations. Once metazen gets rid of his car, bank account, phone, credit cards, utilities, grow stores, etc., send me a post card about how great life is without corporations. I just want legal cannabis, so I voted Yes on 19.

what about the rights of dealers? How do you get the best oil if freedom of the market is restricted? The entire labor theory of value is wrong....with wider capital ownership distributed underutilized capacity can be utilized and become far far more effective than taxing a plant that everybody should have access to as an inalienable right. Less is unconstitutional - the prisons will stay full and the cancer wards will not empty as they easily could with simply repealing the prohibition.

@paulagloria You're mixing issues; This is not an attempt to revamp capitalism. Prop 19 legalizes personal adult cultivation, possession, transportation and sharing. It does not authorize taxes on personal use. If passed, dealers gain the right to seek a lawful license issued at the local level, or the legislature can adopt statewide rules. As a businessman, I pay my taxes, so why should dealers should be tax exempt? Contribute, play by the rules: Reap the harvest. Vote yes on 19.

You claim that med pot cultivators rights are protected in Section 2b8 of Prop 19. But this section is about the rights of CITIES, not med pot users (that's 2b7 - which excludes mention of cultivation).

@jason420jason 2b7 and 2b8 both refer to the statutes that include cultivation, HS11362.5 and 11362.7, as being exempt. Qualified patients are a protected group thanks to Prop 215 and SB 420, and nothing in Prop 19 specifies any change in their legal status. Prop 19 creates a bigger tent for adults 21 and up who are immune from arrest for an ounce or a 25 sq' garden, but patients reserve their unique legal standing for collectives, etc.

@ChrisConradHemp I am NOT talking about personal use tax. I am talking about "recovering the tricombs" which takes large amounts of cannabis. A tax for "dealer" amounts would be the amount needed for personal cancer treatment.Also revamping capitalism is not the issue. The issue is monopoly as Henry Georgists and Binary economists understand. In hard economic times RENT goes up and wages and interest goes DOWN showing that it is monopoly and not capital that is the evil here.

Should the rights of dealers outweigh the rights of consumers not be criminalized or pay inflated prices? I don't think people should be subject to arrest or fines or be subjected to discrimination or stigma in society to keep dealers afloat. Dealers could go legit, if they want to maintain their livelihoods. Get permitted. Pay taxes like the rest of us. Full repeal sounds great, but is not feasible politically. Prop. 19 will start to end of prohibition. Everyone will benefit if it passes.

Well said (as always) Chris! I was most pleased to see our Gubernator sign rather than veto SB 1449. A small step toward redemption for vetoing the agricultural hemp bill, eh?
