December 8, 2007: RBMN SD40-2 3051 and RBMN SD40-2 3055 power up the throttle while shifting and kicking cars at Reading and Northern's storage yard north of CP Belt, which is the meet of Norfolk Southern and Reading and Northern, as well as the diversion of runner tracks into the Reading Yard. Reading and Northern train RGQA would later continue northbound to Port Clinton. A fine job done by the crew! Enjoy!

For those of you who may be wondering about the Conrail U23B here is the info: The Conrail U23B 2786 (patched BDLX) was actually a misdistribute and it does not belong to Reading and Northern. It is sitting on the siding waiting to be picked up. It's not in too bad of shape for a U23B, and it sure makes a nice background!

  • I can't beleive my eyes! A pair of SD40's doing switch work?? Wow, a little overkill eh? 1 GP7, or even something small like an SW9/1200 would've been more than enough. What's the story with the old U-boat in the background?

  • RBMN has no U-boats or GP7's, etc. The smallest units they have are SW8's and a SW1500, but they are used in the yard shifting and rarly visit this part of the line.

  • Cool. Thanks. Sad seeing the U boat just sitting there on the siding, rotting away.(?)

  • Oh, that's BDLX's now, it had belonged to the Pennsy Supply quarry along the Harrisburg Line, but now it's in Pittston, PA, I don't know for what it is currently used.

  • poor old 2786 looks like a old c-40 i would love to restore that old loco to new condition for show

  • It's a U23B.

  • nice video man. i love that railroad.

  • Id love to hear that U-Boat crank up! Love the classic sound! 8-)

  • What a great sounding pair of locomotives!! Caught a nice meet down at Tuckerton a few weeks ago - RBMN SD's on 1 track picking up some hoppers in storage and an NS stack train crisscrossing the Tuckerton Rd. crossing. Perfect timing - that cannot happen too often. Keep the great videos coming!

  • awesome old school switching..dont see that much anymore

  • 1:36 that was a hard joint!

  • @navalman8686 sorting cars so that they are in order for them to drop off at customer locations along the route.

  • @DouglasP201 yes, go to the website posted right on the side of these locos: rbmnrr.com

  • Is Reading & Northern railroad still exist?

  • armyof11, you better do some research on your economics? The reason jobs are lost its because of the democrates high taxes on corporate and buisness.. Other countries not just China, are cashing in because of their low taxes, I said low taxes, US has the highest taxes at 41%.. Thats why all the jobs are disappearing! Don't be suprised if it gets any worse!

  • There's an engine just like this in my hometown of Mountain Top PA.
