  • U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoints are not "drug" checkpoints. They are Immigration checkpoints. Border Patrol dogs alert to hidden persons and drugs with the focus on hidden persons. A k-9 sniff is not considered a violation of the fourth amendment. Border Patrol checkpoints once again are not Drug checkpoints. They are Immigration checkpoints.

  • @grutledge14 So why did the dog not alert to the 3 humans inside the truck. Can the dog tell the difference between an American and a Mexican? The dog is there for drugs, Notice how the agent waits till the dog is done before asking me any questions. That tells me the primary purpose for this check point is looking for drugs.

  • I am teaching my child about her rights and about the Constitution of the United States. I am not the one forcing someone to stop, absent suspicion, in the middle of nowhere and performing an illegal drug search. So why are you calling me an arrogant bastard?

  • @brandonc308 If the border patrol puts up a checkpoint at the end of your street and delays 30 minutes every time you leave would you care? How about if they weren't nice to you even though you pay their salary and how about if they decide they want to pull you into secondary and tear your car apart becasue they feel like it and if you refuse they tase you and throw you on the ground. Would you care then?

    Got it.

  • @thepomofo I think it is completely Unamerican to give up your rights like that. If you don't stand up to police breaking the law then you are a problem. It is illegal for the police to use drug sniffing dogs at an immigration check point. The police breaking the law need to be punished for violating rights. I can't understand why you think stand up for the constitution is "being a jerk." The only jerk I see here is you and the police who break the law.

  • You have that right sparke303. Border Patrol agents not actually patrolling the border are constantly stopping, seizing, detaining, interrogating & attempting to search hard working men & women doing nothing more than driving to & from work solely within the United States without ever crossing a border.

Luckily the only thing agents can legally do at these checkpoints is make brief immigration queries with any further detention/searching requiring consent or pc. Folks don't even need to answer!

  • @sparke303 There was also dissent on behalf of some of the Supreme Court justices concerning the legality of these stops based upon lack of ANY probable cause. Also, any local cop could not get away with the same type of activity in their normal duties with the exception of being involved in illegal Sobriety Checkpoints. BTW, eventhough those have been deemed "legal," most states will not allow DUI checkpoints because their citizens have protested and declined living in a police state.

  • @lizard944 So that's your retort now? Your response to being pointed to the court case where border patrol checkpoints were established as legal is to try to call me gay? Wow. You lost this argument in a bad way! That's very funny. You believe you have a right to not be stopped and questioned at a border patrol checkpoint. However, the Supreme Court says that you don't! You're wrong, and you've been outmatched by someone who knows more than you do. Get over it!

  • @redcheeks1025 ...No way!! Your screen name is "redcheeks" and you side with the cops? You make it too easy for me to ridicule you.

  • @sparke303 It's ok. "Don't ask, don't tell" is over now. You can come out of the closet and share your cop domination fantasies with us. It's simple: A cop's job is to extract as much money from John Q Public as possible so the general state fund is large enough to get them through a lavish retirement...beginning at age 55!! Now that's a lot of tickets and cash confiscation to be had. Thanks for being obedient and subservient. You're a good America (cough, cough)

  • @lizard944 there are some idiots out there who think their entire life revolves around making hardworking men and women miserable. It appears this category includes yourself. I'm sorry that the rest of the world isn't going to subject themselves to your poor knowledge of your rights. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court ruled in US v. Martinez-Fuerte WAY BACK in 1976 that you don't know what the hell you're talking about!
