Rescue the Kazekage
Part 2 of 9

The previous video I had ends with Sasori and Deidara carrying out their plan: Find the Kazekage and capture him. Sasori goes to do something else (not sure what) while Deidara takes on the Kazekage on the rooftop. Our Kazekage happens to be Gaara, a boy around the same age as Naruto who became friends during the Chunin Exam.

A bit of backstory here: Gaara is another kid with a tailed beast sealed inside him. The beast is Shukaku, the One-Tailed Badger. Just like Naruto, Gaara became an outcast and discriminated against in his village. Unlike Naruto, there was no one to support him but his siblings Kankuro and Temari, and he grew extremely bitter. He met Naruto during the Chunin Exams, where he learned there are others like himself, and became inspired to use his powers for good. His noble acitons since then have convinced the populace of Sunagakure (Hidden Sand Village) to elect him as the third Kazekage. And now Naruto looks up to Gaara--whereas Naruto hopes to become the Kage of his village someday, Gaara has already pulled it off.

We begin with a boss battle--as you'll likely notice, each boss battle is at least two parts long. This first part is really annoying because Deidara constantly stays out of reach and throws explosive clay down at Gaara. I would agree with Deidara in that "This is taking forever." I cut out a few minutes, in fact, because it was taking so long.

The second part is a LOT faster, so much so that I increased the bitrate of this video. What we have now is a dogfight through the Hidden Sand Village, with Deidara on his clay bird and Gaara on a cloud of sand. (Deidara is an artist and loves sculpting animals out of explosive clay; Gaara, thanks to Shukaku's power, can control sand.) As you can see from the captions, Gaara is not letting Deidara get away in one piece. As any Shonen Jump fan may know, important characters rarely die in Eiichiro Oda's manga, One Piece, whereas they die all the time in Naruto. And Deidara is a pretty important character in this manga so he gets a much better survival rate there.

I never noticed until this part of the game that Deidara has a verbal tic. He likes saying "hm" or variants of it after his statements. Props to whomever plays Deidara for keeping it subtle. (UPDATE: I was told it's Roger Craig Smith. Thank you.) Liam O'Brien plays Gaara, that I know. He has a tendency to play nice but troubled guys--in addition to Gaara, other notable roles he's had are Dr. Kenzo Tenma in Monster and Captain Joshiro Ukitake in Bleach. He's had WAY more roles than that, but those are the ones I remember best.

  • @animelovnguy I don't know. What's an imari?

  • @Overhazard It's a big beam all nine bijuu can use...it's like throwing up a blast...Look in the arc when the Kyuubi fought against Naruto....

  • @animelovnguy Okay. I've never really given it a name. (And I know what you mean.) Yes, that's exactly what it was.

  • what game is this? and is there a pc version of it?

  • @kingoftsunade This is naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. It's for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

  • He put up a huge fight, and yet Gaara still ends up losing to a cheap trick. Gah, those moments in storylines kind of annoy me.

Reminds me of that bit in Sonic Riders, where you have to win a really touch race, and yet in the story, Sonic still ends up losing because his board was booby trapped.

  • Actually, Overhazard, Gaara is the fifth Kazekage.

  • @milkeyUK Well, I was going to explain it right here, but sure.

  • @Overhazard I had no idea! i don't hate all things american, far from it. I just prefer the japanese voice acting and thanks for respecting it.

yeah sure, drop me a mail would be cool to read about it!

  • @milkeyUK If you're wondering, the word "weaboo" refers to an overly vocal Japanophile. It came from 4chan, which is full of people who love all things Japanese and hate all things American, for no reason other than that it's cool to do so.

This is your opinion and I respect it, by the way. (I could explain to you the history of Japanese and American voice acting if you want, how they came to have differences in style.)

  • @Overhazard at the end of the day its people's opions. I just don't like people who assume things and start calling you things because of it... especially when i've never heard of "weaboos" etc

which was why i went on a little rant!
