In response to a comment below, Grof didn't do CIA funded LSD experiments as far as I am aware..Grof was working in Czechoslovakia doing public clinical work with LSD.
The comment also includes the ridiculous assertion that only men were shamans.

Goes to show how disconnected his thinking is: after all his CIA funded LSD experiments -essentially on unwitting students who didn't understand a psychiatric scientific setting is the absolute WORST for a trip- and all his psychedelic research,
he fails to realize the implication that for instance SHAMANS were MEN

The point he's making about women being more "cosmically connected" becos of life-bearing functions is pretty useless and nothing but an easy assumption. All creatures on earth are connected to nature.
All along he completely fails to identify inherent make-up of men and women and socio cultural forces. How can he simply ignore all kinds of societal forces have largely diverted humans from their biology, and shaped gender realtions!?
Amazing how psychiatrists always lack perspective...
