That was a great story and I wish that more people would listen to the messages in it. The only thing that I would point out is that they focus on small rural towns, but CFA and SES volunteers are not only from these small rural communities. We also serve in urban communities and have to deal with the exact same sort of incidents.

being a volunteer firefighter myself, at 17 years of age, some of the things that go through your mind when comms tells you to repond towards such an such for an MVA.
its fucking wrong, people who see this please slow the hell down :/ not just for me, but for you, your mum ur dad ur brother ur sister, whoever it might be ur going to see. i dunno about you, but id prefer you to be a few minutes late, then never show up..

God bless the CFA and SES for what they dom keep up the good work, and enjoy your Christmas and New Year safely.
hmmm.. not just rural volunteers, but CFA staff members, urban brigades, police, ambos and often other members of the public already on scene are affected by these sorts of things. whether you get paid or not makes no different, we're all in it together.
but good on those men and women, you do your respective organisations proud, your communities proud and the country proud.

No it is not just volunteers. All police, firefighters, ambos and SES volunteers have to deal with the results of the accidents.
It is just more poignant for the volunteers are doing it on their own time (they don't get paid) and are more likely to be dealing with people they know.
Good article by the project. Please slow down and be careful over your hoilday.
