Hélène Bouvier sings "Printemps qui commence" from
Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921)
Henri Médus (An old Hebrew)
Orchestra of the National Opera of Paris
Louis Fourestier, conductor
recorded from 17th to 27th September, 1946
in the Théatre des Champs-Elysées
This is a stupendous recording with Jose Luccioni- (reissued some years back on cd by EMI) outstanding and idiomatic in every way- the characters spring to life, and the orchestra is the true French sound- note the slight vibrato in the brass- gorgeous! Madame Bouvier was superb. Thank you
