One of the popular American Country & Western shows of the 1950s was Town Hall Party, a barn dance program put off every Saturday night in Compton, California. The West Coast's answer to the Louisiana Hayride and the Grand Ole Opry, it was broadcast first on radio and then went to TV in the Los Angeles area. Joe Maphis and Bobby Helms....Both superstars in my book. I am a relatively young buck...and I teach my sons about the masters.

Just my opinion, but I actually think Joe Maphis was show-cased very well in this clip. That constant boogie-woogie riff he plays is one of the best parts of the song, and it's quite amazing to hear that (1) on a Hank Williams cover song (2) in the early 1950s! Great performance by both Bobby & Joe.
