In this video Matthew Tucker shows the New Standard Cleveland after the removable neck modification. The neck is removed in about a minute. Assembly is simply the reverse of this, with a little attention to soundpost position before bringing the strings up to tension.

couple of things to note: you can't see it, but there's a rubber mat on the floor which is how i can lay the bass down so easily with no damage to the edges. Also, the bass is very, very light for an instrument this size. Very well made.

  • Fantastic job! I love the bass and your neck mods. Great stuff.

  • Absolutely brilliant repair! I love the magnetic door. I do a magnetic back cover on my electric basses but that is just brilliant! Quick access. Have you tried to see if it adds any more focus or bottom to the sound when opened? I just finished fixing an upright neck by making it removable too. I'm stealing your magnetic brass knob idea too! :)

  • This looks great - is the soundpost door held down with magnets?
