Testing certain aspects of engine operation after an oil change: the ignition system, the propeller control, carburetor heat, and full power rpm check. It passed!

The two points where you hear the rpm's drop are the propeller pitch test. After it's at full power for just a few seconds, then a slow reduction in power down to idle, followed by shutdown using the fuel mixture control ( that's a test too ).

  • Why in the world would you go full throttle with only brakes?!

  • I think i see what it was. A piece of baffling hit the prop.

  • What blew off the aircraft at 1:40?

  • Good advice and safe insite. Imagine should the worst come to suddenly happen when one has power at full....What a crap huh? The A&P is correct! Thanks pal.

  • Words of wisdom from an A&P...I'm not trying to be rude or critical but chock the wheels or tie the airplane down when you're doing engine runs like that, especially when in close proximity to buildings or the edge of a ramp. Don't rely on the brakes alone to keep you in place. Also straighten the nose wheel to prevent side-load.

    Fly Safe!
