This the "Mini Tesla Coil" that I built using designs from several people. It is not a true Tesla coil but does exhibit interesting electrostatic effects. The circuit is the Slayer Exciter, the transmitter tower design was inspired by EM devices, and the reciever tower design was inspired by Dr. Stiffler. It is powered in this video by a 5.5 volt cell phone charger that uses one AA battery as the energy source. The device was designed to run on 3v to 9v at under 200 mA. The circuit for this can be found at GBluer here at Youtube. It is not mine.

  • very nice work,.. I love these wireless transmitters, though I have yet to see one that will really transmit a lot of power. I'm wondering how it would change the output if you replace the christmas balls with metal sphere's (since glass is in insulator) or doesn't that matter much with these high frequency wireless devices ?. (btw. you could probably build the whole circuit, incl. the battery, inside the coil for a very neat looking device)

  • @phobosapiens -----You read my mind. The cell phone charger fits nicely inside the Tesla coil but it disturbs the coil resonance and it doesn't work. A metal toroid shape on the top load of the tower would be the best thing to use up there but finding one or making one is hard.

  • @Lidmotor yeah, I was wondering about that, too bad. Of course you could always make a bigger base, but it would have been so nice. About the toroid, I've seen bigger tesla coils where they use a styrofoam ring covered with tinfoil or aluminium tape. I do believe small styrofoam rings are available or maybe you can use another material like wood or plastic, might be worth trying. The shiny balls look very nice though :) (btw. have you tried powering it with a small solar panel ?)

  • @phobosapiens ------I could drive this with a solar panel. Thanks. I might try that. I have one that should work.

  • briliant work again, now mixing concepts up.... well done.

i thought the tesla coil should be flat. have you tried it flat?

  • @seedstarbrazil --- If you are talking about the primary coil on a Tesla coil the answer is yes they can be flat. They can be built like this one also. The "pancake" coil idea is something different.

  • can you send me chematics for this ?

  • Cool

  • I am interested to buy from the Mini Tesla Coil ---Finished.ASF kit from you if you would make a kit for me.

  • what is the dia. of the tube it looks like 2 inches but i googled the slayer exciter curcuit and it says to use a 1 intch tube what would you recomend?

  • can somebothey post the schematic???!!!!

  • do you have to use the circuit board or can you just hook the coil up directly to the phone charger

  • What about if you put your head next to it, will it fuck up your brain?

  • hi sounds like you did to make tesla coil but with 9 volts DC, the breathtaking "really is your circuit,,, what could happen or help with one .. the truth is very good

  • Very well done! Could you post a link to a schematic of this project? I'm thinking I would like to try it sometime, too! Thanks!
