@ilovescottymyhorse Why are you posting this on every Thunderbird Hunter Derby video? As rockymtnshow said, out of the 18 horses that competed here, 12 of them where jumpers.
-
the derby has big purses. it is not uncommon for jumpers to be shown in such classes. but think about it, though this is a polite jumper, imagine a crazed jumper competing agains a nice, fancy hunter. the show hunter will always win :)

He seems to ride with a really closed hip. Not just this video, because it is a derby, so its more forward.. Idk.. LOL
-
guys he is riding a jumper it doesnt matter in hunter derbies a hunter will ride it like a jumper course, more forward thats why its called a derby..
-
This horse loves it!!! I randomly came across it and he is not a hunter but still a really nice horse who obviously thoroughly loves doing this! Great jump too, looks like a great horse.

@ilovescottymyhorse your not aware of this "Hunter derbys" are basicly jumper derbys but more formal. so.. SAHUT UP.
-
Judges also like to see a more forward pace reminiscent of the hunt field, so jumpers have that advantage over most hunters, haha

There are things that a jumper can learn in the hunter ring and vice versa. The rider could either be doing this for his benefit or the horse's.

dontgivemebs :Being brave doesn't change anything at all.... it's certainly not the reason why your friend rode her jumper in a hunter derby.
However, the horse is looking good! But it's definitly not a hunter !!
WHy are you riding a jumper in a hunter derby

the horse doesnt really seem as if he belongs in the hunter ring. strict jumpers should stay in the jumper ring and strict hunters in the hunter ring. but thats my opinion so it might not even matter!! lol!
