IF I DO NOT ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS/COMMENTS, PLEASE MESSAGE ME INSTEAD.

PEN AND INK PEN TOOL (SKIP this if it does not apply to you)
If you don't have the ink pen too, you can use the pen as an alternative. For the ink pen "look", just go to the pen tool, and then look at the toolbox. Look on the bottom right, and there should be four boxes with shapes in them. choose the last one, (rectangle). Also, you can go to advanced settings, which should be on top of the pen size tool box, and then play w. the edge hardness (mine is set on 100 but it doesn't really matter). You can also play with the hard -soft settings. To get the look most similar to the ink pen, 10 is probably the best.

I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY COMMENTS ABOUT WHY YOU DO NOT HAVE THE INK PEN, AND WHERE YOU CAN GET IT. If you have tried the above methods and it still does not work, then you can message me.

IMPORTANT:
I made a mistake! When using the selection tool, you can't rotate the object. Well, I mean using the circle with two arrows tool. Sorry! I totally forgot.
If you want to rotate, use the options that appear under the toolbox when you are using the selection tool. tThere are four options- transform, scale, free deform, and rotate. There's also flip horizontally, flip vertically, rotate 90 degrees CW, and rotate 90 degrees CCW.

Remember: PLAY WITH THE SETTINGS/ADVANCED SETTINGS!!
The four icons underneath the tool box with various shapes in them determine how soft or hard your tool is. play with those too.

There's probably something wrong with the acrylic, paper, and crayon tools on my computer so just play around with them on your SAI.

As always, comments and ratings are appreciated!

Furthermore, I DO use a tablet, in case anyone is wondering. NO, you do not need one to work this problem, and you do not need one to draw, though it is recommended if you would like to start drawing digitally.

Thank you!

  • i cant accualy draw do you need a tablet for this?

  • @afrotoad1 Nope! It is just a whole lot easier to draw because it's really similar to drawing with paper and pen. Otherwise, you can just use your mouse/touchpad to draw! However, it'll be a little more difficult and you may not be able to utilize pressure with your mouse.

  • I got a question. I can't use the selection tool to highlight the areas I wanted to color. It just highlights the whole picture. Is there anything i can do about it??

  • @Maplestaff Try changing the target to "All image" or "selection source," and if you choose selection source, make sure your lineart is also marked "selection source," which can be found above the layer box. :)
