@HolyknightVader999 It's speculated... But he didn't believe in Gods and his faith as much as he believed in fate. And you got the ephors wrong as well, the oracle did not tell men the direct answer, they almost made it a riddle. Leonidas was told that a king would die at Thermopylae and one great force would fall. Now because of its size, Leonidas believed the Persian army would be destroyed or would retreat. That is the most highly believed story by historians.

@PUMKINMANforever The real ephors actually told Leonidas to attack the Persians. He went to fight due to his faith in the gods and the oracle.
