  • I think I agree with much of what you say. I use the word Neopagan or just Pagan to refer to any of the non-monotheistic religions loosely based on the pre-christian religions of ancient Europe. It's an umbrella term like Christian with all the bzillion denominations within it. I realize that many reconstructionists don't like to use the term Pagan and I'm cool with that. It is often difficult to come up with a term to describe one's path without offending or confusing someone.

  • Thanks for the comment despite it being cut off

    XD

That is true many get offended by things when you say "well I pray to such and such"

  • Well, plus "pagan" is a term for 'country folks' and was used almost derogatorily-- like 'country bumpkin' or 'hick'. Those country dwellers were the last to be converted to christianity and so the term developed to encompass the religions that these 'pagans' were practicing. Hence it's 'umbrella' usage.

What people call themselves hardly matters, in my opinion. True, it can give 'us' a bad name, but what is 'us' and what does it count for?

  • GOD hates religion....

    im gonna pray...

GOD please protect us from your followers!!!!!!!

  • im a chistianpaganrastafarianzen master

  • religions in my opinion should not exist. i say i am pagan so people can equally generalize me,lol. we are all on our own path and thats all it should be recognized as a spiritual path...thats all, no titles

  • its just people. they want to say this is right and your wrong yada yada yada. its just always gona happen with religion.

  • Thanks that was pretty much what I wanted to say but better said

  • The recons who are in all actuality Pagan, are then calling themselves Hellenists, Asatru, Odinists, Kemeticist, ect to distance themselves from the inane "Pagan" generic bullshit.

This allows the said Generic Pagans to twist and distort the word even more creating a bad and unintelligent front for all the people who are actually Pagan.

It is a problem that also needs to be fixed inside the community, as well as with publishers. There needs to be set limits in my opinion.

  • I find that people in "Pagan" community to a degree are afraid of calling bullshit on someone people when they call themsevles Pagan when they really arent. Their seems to be especially with Wiccans this need to accept every ideal and belief that another holds as true....

I personally think that the word pagan has no real meaning anymore. It applies to anyone who wants to practice a mild and distorted form of Wicca, which is then called Pagan. While all the recons are consider more recons.

  • So I don't discuss religion with most people and allow them to think what they will. I'm a fairly 'nice' person and if they choose to think I'm a good Christian, who am I to disillustion them.
