When painting or projecting in Mudbox I get these weird pixels that get stretched.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem?

  • Uv is stretched thats why the paintingis stretched...relax the uv in maya or max then bring in mudbox

  • you have probably already figured this out but it has to do with Mudbox's edge bleeding (window->preferences->paint). If your uvs are too close together the edge bleeding/padding will cover valid UVs instead of empty space creating the effect your seeing. I ran into this a lot with characters and the tight UV areas between fingers, around the mouth, etc. It only happens on the open seams of UVs though. Try setting the value in preferences to 1.0 or so, or space out your UVs more. Good luck.

  • yes same problems!

    i found some possibles causes

1 with 4096px square textures (same model) is less

2 refer to the texture size if the uv contains few pixels the problems occour

3 the model need veri clean quad and proportionated square faces

4 one kind is paint a character with only the head in a square uv layout but if you ave all the mesh problems occour more easily

5 transform the model to planar space / paint e revert solve some issues ma basicaly some problems are still.
