If it wasn't for apple os, don't think ms would be big wth their windows os, ms had copied apple's idea.

I think gates owe apple big time, but bringing these to gaints together creating a monopoloy is not good for consumers.

Yeah...that could be the truth. But not necessary. What market are we talking about? Server or desktop?
I believe that Linux has far more Desktop users then it's actually being reported. And it's still growing.
Macs are pretty popular in US, but here in EU...I actually never met anyone who has one. PCs rule desktop market, and Windows as an operating system...with more and more Linux users. We'll see how things will develop.

I'm a PC user myself, and agree that majority of people (even over here in the U.S.) use PCs and run Windows, but I wouldn't mind having a Mac, and I think I may even want to be loyal to Apple now. Because what do you think? Is it true that Bill Gates stole the windowing system from Apple when Apple had the Lisa? I'm not sure, but it IS pretty difficult to defend Microsoft on that aspect...and Gates DID lie about other things to get where he is today...I don't know.
