Test video with google maps overlay.... Bit of a cheat though, the map is done by taking numerous screen snapshots and stitching them into one big image.. pity there doesn't seem to be a way of getting images direct from google maps...... anyone have any ideas how to do that?

  • You should try the contour GPS, you will see the map and your position.

  • crazy shit dude... very hightech

  • There is a special "url" you can use to get a square of map image from google.

This is why you see google maps appear in blocks if your connection is acting slow.

You can pretty much just give it the coordinates + size of the square (there is an upper limit).

If you have trouble finding the proper URLs yourself just ask and I will sort them out (I don't have them to hand).

  • you could try doing a screen capture of the Garmin Connect playback edit out the data stream at the bottom and then match the timecode of the video. Love that displat fro the Garmin Edge though I expect the TCX file from my Forerunner 301 would be the same but no cadence.

  • Google maps images must take you ages to put together! :-) Interesting view though.
